چکیده

This study investigated the effect of a lotic environment on morphological characteristics and energy metabolism in juvenile grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella. The fish were stocked forced to swim for 12 h per day 4 weeks at three water current velocities 0.5, 2, body length s−1 (Bl s−1). control lentic with 0 Bl s−1. results showed that significantly increased weight, length, condition factor carp. first principal component (PC1) characterized by measured overall size suggested had stoutness wider tail stalk. Standard metabolic rate (SMR), maximum (MMR), aerobic swimming performance (Ucrit) elevated flow positively correlated PC1. group decreased contents serum glucose muscular glycogen, level lactic acid. mRNA expression levels AMP-activated protein kinase-phosphorylate PPAR γ coactivator 1 α-nuclear respiratory (AMPK-PGC1α-NRF1) pathway-related genes upregulated red muscle environment. Water ratios enzymes (lactate dehydrogenase/citrate synthase) cytochrome c oxidase/citrate muscle. relationship between capacity was shaped promote metabolism. identified evidence mechanism trade-off morphology

Case report of chondroma in a grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella)

The grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) is a herbivorous, freshwater fish species of the family Cyprinidae, and the only species of the genus Ctenopharyngodon. Neoplasms in fishes are generally less aggressive than neoplasms in mammals and are most commonly discrete, focal and benign neoplasms. A 3-year-old grass carp with a big mass on the vertebrae was referred to the clinic. According to the...

Growth Response of Juvenile Grass Carp (ctenopharyngodon Idella) Fed Isocaloric Diets with Variable Protein Levels

Sixty days feeding experiment was conducted on grass carp fry fed isocaloric diets with variable protein levels in order to evaluate its growth response. Different diet ingredients were analyzed for % age protein, % age fat, % age ash, % fiber, % age moisture contents and energy. Five isoenergetic (17.91 ± 0.02 Kg MJ ) and isolipidic (8.56 ± 0.09 g) diets with varying protein levels PL1 (20%), ...

Insights into the Antiviral Immunity against Grass Carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) Reovirus (GCRV) in Grass Carp

Global fish production from aquaculture has rapidly grown over the past decades, and grass carp shares the largest portion. However, hemorrhagic disease caused by grass carp reovirus (GCRV) results in tremendous loss of grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) industry. During the past years, development of molecular biology and cellular biology technologies has promoted significant advances in the...

Protective Roles of Grass Carp Ctenopharyngodon idella Mx Isoforms against Grass Carp Reovirus

BACKGROUND Myxovirus resistance (Mx) proteins are crucial effectors of the innate antiviral response against a wide range of viruses, mediated by the type I interferon (IFN-I) signaling pathway. However, the antiviral activity of Mx proteins is diverse and complicated in different species. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS In the current study, two novel Mx genes (CiMx1 and CiMx3) were identifie...

Effect of Dietary Energy to Protein Ratios on Growth Performance and Feed Efficiency of Juvenile Grass Carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella)

A feeding trial of three dietary protein (DP) (25, 35 and 45%) and four dietary lipid (DL) levels (3, 6, 9 and 12%) with different dietary energy to protein (E/P) ratios (from 5.93 to 13.84 kcal/g protein) was conducted to investigate the proper dietary E/P ratio for juvenile grass carp. After acclimation of 2 weeks by a lipid-free diet, fish were reared for 10 weeks in a water recirculation sy...
